Water Problem

Anyone concerned about the impact of high density development on our frail and limited water sources?
How's AAWC's water capacity now?
Have they got the infastructure to deliver water on the scale three new developments will require?
Who will be paying for the necessary upgrades?
How would our community's increased use impact the TCE plume?
Ask your Town Council members!

Yes, I am concerned about the impact of NOT only high density developments, BUT also of the impact of those increasing numbers of spec mansions on our already frail & limited water sources.
Last I heard was that the water for the Ritz Carlton complex was supposed to come mainly from AAWC but would be supplemented by water drawn from wells ( yet to be drilled!) & an acquifer.

With regard to the present infra structure, I believe, the facts speak for themselves:

A) Numerous rate hikes within a very short period of time making the AAWC's rate the highest in the Valley.

B)The TCE/ repeated break downs.

C) The desire of the Town Council of the City of Scottsdale to look for alternatives as a water provider.

In fairness, since I am a customer of the City of Phoenix water, I cannot comment on the pressure provided by AAWC with the exception that a couple of years ago a house burnt down because the fire hydrant in front of it was supposedly dry.

To answer the question "Who will be paying for the necessary upgrades", it seems almost evident that the customers of AAWC will be the ones, especially since AAWC is presently owned by RWE, a German public conglamorate, that has been first trying to sell the American company & then later to offer it as an IPO.Neither materialized.

In one meeting, a Ritz Carlton representive made the promise that the Ritz Carlton would pay for some water infra structure which would benefit the PRESENT AWWC customers. Being a cynic, I might just ask "since when did a hotel company enter the "business" of benefactor?"

Lastly, I would like to comment on "Ask your Town Council members" .My comments will not only be directed at the AAW situation, but they will address the water situation of the City Of Phoenix, as well ( I do not know too much about Berneil )
For quite some years The Town of PV has had a so-called Water Committee
comprised of Council members & a paid water specialist.
Yet during this time, the ever bigger mega residential structures ( on virgin land or replacing tear downs ) have been added in record numbers to our already, increasingly fragile water infra structure of weak narrowing pipes & aged pumping stations. Complaints of low pressure & at times less than the expected quality of water have multiplied.
The present council members on PV's Water Committee are Mary Hamway as chair woman together with Virginia Simpson & Brian Cooney.
It seems to me that words, meetings & moneys (paid to the specialist) have not improved our water situations.Yes, we have joined with the City of Phoenix for our fire protection, but the conditions for the 24/7 NECESSITY of water for EXISTING residents have NOT only NOT improved, but gotten worse. In order to allow additional buildings on our weak water lines, private holding tanks, fed by our aged pipes 24/7, have come to "rescue". That our public servants can even consider adding any more water gushing facilities under these conditions is grossly irresponsible.
Why would I want to contact these council members? I did. Quite a few times.Their answers were only words!
We need solutions. We need tough leadership.
We should not re-elect any one who has failed so miserably to look out for us.
After all, we do not live in a third world country where these conditions are so sadly the norm.
