This letter was sent to all the members of the town council on Tues. the 18th. Our property is located at 6940 E. Indian Bend:
"On Friday, March 14, my wife and I received a call from Mr. Fred Fleet of Fleet Fisher Engineering, Inc. asking us to meet with him on Monday, March 18 to discuss what to do about the roundabout on Indian Bend Rd. He mentioned that there were options regarding the roundabout, one of which was to move it to the west of its current location, placing it directly in front of our property. We contacted Council Woman Mary Hamway and she asked to be present at the meeting to which we agreed.
My wife and I, Mary Hamway, Mr. Fleet and Mr. David Schmid of Five Star Development, attended the meeting Monday morning. When Mr. Fleet began to lay out the options for the roundabout on Indian Bend pressing us to choose one we noticed on the “not to scale” site plan that was on the table that the Indian Bend entrance to the development (North Entrance) had been moved from the original location at the current roundabout. The entrance shown on this map is located directly in front of our property. This was the first time we were aware of this change and we want to be very clear that we oppose this change.
During the rest of the meeting we discussed proposed changes to the North entrance of the development. My wife and I proposed and favor moving the North entrance to the East to align it with the South entrance to the Scottsdale Plaza Resort. The other option that would be acceptable is to have the North entrance located at the current roundabout where we always understood the location to be. Our understanding was based on attendance at an early meeting at the Town Hall where a site plan was shown with that location and with assurances given to me by Ms. Susan Bitter Smith, who was representing the developer at this meeting. I asked if she could send me copies of the material presented at the meeting and also requested that further information regarding the development be sent to us. She promised to do this, however, we never received any information from her or the developer.
We are requesting that you, along with the other members of the Town Council direct Five Star Development to change their plan to show the North entrance of their development to either of the two options noted above, in order to protect the value of our prperty, to preserve our quality of live regarding noise and light pollution, increased traffic flow and hazards and to help meet the Town’s own long term goals as expressed in the “Central Plan” regarding the above items."
We have been "invited" to attend the meeting at 4 PM on the 20th. We are getting very mixed signals about what the council can and will do. If anyone can help us with this issue PLEASE contact us ASAP
